Artistic gathering at Centre Makôrô: building lasting bridges between artists

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, the Centre Makôrô hosted an inspiring gathering as part of the An Ka Yetaw program (“Our vision” in Bambara). This session was initiated by Ibrahim Bemba Kebé and Nybé Ponzio, who brought people together around the theme: “How to build sustainable collaborations between artists in Mali and the diaspora?”

In a warm and open atmosphere, artists, creatives, and cultural actors shared their journeys, ongoing projects, and visions for collective work. The objective was clear: to get to know each other better, share our perspectives, and most importantly, spark concrete synergies to build a strong and lasting network.

This moment of dialogue, listening, and reflection laid the groundwork for a more united, connected, and forward-looking artistic ecosystem.
About the An Ka Yetaw program
Launched in December 2022 in Bamako as part of the off-events of the African Biennale of Photography, An Ka Yetaw (“What we see” in Bambara) is a program that builds a bridge between Malian artists in the country and those in the diaspora.
It highlights artistic creation in all its forms — photography, music, culinary art, and more — by fostering exchanges, residencies, and collaborative exhibitions.
The program provides a vibrant platform where the visions, stories, and imaginations of young Malian creators can unfold, while strengthening cultural synergies across worlds.
