Where Mali’s Memory Inspires Contemporary Creation

In the heart of Ségoukoura, just steps from the Niger River, stands a unique place where art becomes a bridge between past and future. Founded in 2012, the Mieruba Art Center is more than a cultural space — it’s a deep breath within Mali’s artistic landscape. It is the natural extension of the Mieruba label, created in 2010, and driven by a clear mission: to preserve, transmit, and celebrate expressions rooted in the rich Manding tradition.

In a world where artistic exile often seems inevitable, Mieruba chooses to stay. It takes root in the soil of Ségou to breathe new life into a living culture. There, ancient rhythms do not slumber in museums — they still beat, fuel contemporary creativity, and open new paths of dialogue. Rather than freezing tradition, Mieruba sets it in motion.
A Rich and Committed Program
- The Lost Maestros/Maestras: a precious music collection spotlighting iconic Malian voices such as Mangala Camara and Zoumana Tereta.
- Pacific Fusion: a social cohesion project through music, gathering artists from across Mali in creative dialogue.
- Ségou Jam: a biannual gathering turning the center into a hub of artistic exchange, creation, and sharing between musicians, enthusiasts, and visitors.
- Afro Jazz Folk Collection: a vibrant tribute to the legendary group Super Biton of Ségou, distributed globally in CD, vinyl, and digital formats.
- Diré, the album by Idrissa Soumaoro, edited and distributed by Mieruba, gained global attention and was awarded at the Womex Festival in 2023.
A Space for Transmission and Creation
- Regular concerts and jam sessions featuring local and international talent.
- Artist residencies as incubators for ideas and intercultural encounters.
- Manding music lessons to learn traditional Malian instruments.
- Exhibitions and workshops that showcase visual arts and train the next generation.

A Center of Impact and Peace
In a Mali searching for stability and lasting peace, the Mieruba Art Center stands as a gentle stronghold of resistance, where art becomes a force for cohesion. Here, beauty is not a luxury — it is essential. The center fosters a community built on listening, transmission, and respect for diversity.
With internationally available productions and strong local roots, Mieruba strikes a rare balance between global reach and deep cultural loyalty. It remains one of the cornerstones of contemporary Malian cultural life.
